Pregnancy So Far...

This being my first pregnancy, I didn't really know what to expect - I'm thankful that my experience so far has been enjoyable and relatively painless.

We found out I was pregnant about 6 weeks in, on March 3, after a weekend spent visiting with my Mom that included downhill skiing, many lattes, a dip in a hot tub, and a couple glasses of wine...all things that have been off limits since (sorry about that baby!).

I was thrilled to find out, and texted Craig saying I had a late birthday present for him (for those of you who know us, we are not big on gifts, and his gift-less birthday had just passed on March 1).  He came home expecting that I'd brought home some leftover desserts from my office, but was just as excited as I was to find out the real surprise.

Overall, I would describe my pregnancy as a great experience.  In the first trimester, I probably wouldn't have known I was pregnant were it not for the test since my symptoms were so minor - no nausea or morning sickness, no noticeable fatigue, and not a lot of weight gain.  I feel very lucky after reading pregnancy blogs and hearing about experiences that aren't so great from friends.  Craig has been extremely supportive and extra nice to me the whole time - and I've been trying not to take advantage of it....at least not too much :)

As time has gone on, I've had a few more symptoms - The pelvic pain due to ligaments stretching is the only thing that really bothers me though.  I was able to keep running until about 5 months (did a half marathon at 19 weeks that included 3 bathroom breaks), but since then, any sort of prolonged walking or running makes for a lot of soreness afterwards.  So this summer has not included as much hiking as I'd hoped, but I have tried to keep moving with activities that are more comfortable like biking and working out in the gym.

Now (almost 32 weeks), there is definitely no mistaking I'm pregnant - I've gained 25-30 lbs and the baby has been moving consistently for the last 10 weeks, and the kicks, turns and stretches are stronger than ever now.  Feeling her move inside is definitely my favourite thing about pregnancy - a feeling that is like nothing else for sure.  According to the doctor, she is head down (so let's hope she stays that way).  According to my bathroom schedule, her head is right on my bladder.

I just hope the next 8 weeks go as smoothly as the last 32!

Here are a few pictures from along the way

13 weeks during our vacation in Barbados - this will probably be the last bathing suit shot for a while!

17 weeks....I remember thinking that I could see a belly at this point, but looking back this is nothing!
