Ready for Baby (or as ready as we'll ever be!)
I'm not sure whether you can ever be fully prepared for your first baby, but with the nursery pretty much complete and having an great baby shower this past weekend, I am feeling fairly excited to welcome our little girl.
I thought I'd post some pictures of the nursery after having a few requests. Before finding out the baby's sex, I said we'd keep it neutral regardless of the outcome - but once we knew it was a girl, I just couldn't resist painting it pink (I don't think Craig would ever let me paint a room pink otherwise). Might regret the decision in a few years if I have to re-paint, but I am pretty happy with it and think I will enjoy spending time there--this room was nothing compared to all the painting I did in our house this past winter with our renovations.
We had to do a bit of shuffling around - the nursery used to be our office space and my "second bedroom" (another closet of clothes, and vanity space) - I found a way to fit those two items in our guest room, which is now a truly multi-purpose room. There are a few more finishing touches to add - some wall decals and a carpet that should arrive soon, but all the essentials are done.
We (and baby-to-be) were so lucky to be spoiled this past weekend by our friends here in Calgary at the "Pearce Baby Party" (we aren't the traditional shower type). It can be hard living so far from both of our families, but we are extremely grateful for the awesome friends we have here in Calgary - and about 30 of them were able to make it out to this gathering on Saturday afternoon (and several toddlers and babies too :)--I was especially surprised when one of my best friends Heather (university roomie) showed up at the door after travelling all the way from Vancouver. Our good friends Robyn and Ang did a great job planning and hosting at Robyn's new home (I think we learned the split level layout with dual stairs really appeals to toddlers who want to run laps for hours).
Here are some pictures of the nursery and from the shower - Only 6 weeks to go now!
Ang's fun creation - cantelope baby in a watermelon carriage.
We loved all of our gifts, but Craig was pretty excited about this stuffed yellow lab - "It's Huddy!" he said when he saw it (Mac definitely knows him well)
We had lots of good "helpers" with the gifts
Amazing strawberry vanilla cake care of Robyn - I think everyone at the party definitely appreciates your Cordon Bleu pastry training!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of these gifts that will no doubt be put to use soon enough.
The nursery pretty much complete
"Little Huddy" (he is going to have to live in the crib, as real Hudson really wants to get him)
Hudson and Ruby know that something is changing-they are used to all the toys in the house being their property so are a bit confused as to why I won't let them take the baby's items. They'll learn soon enough, and I know they will love their little sister even though she will be getting all of the attention.

It was such a fun baby party! Love the nursery. The dogs will love the baby and she will love them. Soon she willbe crawling all over them and they willbe soaking up the additional love.
